Learn to play Spades with Laura Austin, Adult Programming Librarian, and the Austin Family.
Spades is a four-person, trick-taking card game where players opposite one another work as a team to bid (not bet) on how many tricks they will win during the hand. Spades are always the trump.
This is an adult program, but most of these classic games can easily be played by families with children. Children ages 8-years-old and older should find Spades easy enough to learn, but the bidding process could be trickier for them to understand.
